Mount Ararat is an ancient snow-covered volcano that, at 5,137 meters, represents the highest altitude in Turkey. It is located in the Anatolia region, near the border with Iran and Armenia. Its ascent does not present great technical demands, but it requires good physical preparation, making it very suitable for beginning high altitude ascents.
For the Christian religion, Mount Ararat is the place where “Noah’s Ark” was deposited after the Universal Flood. Supposed remains of the Ark have been found on some of its slopes. At its base, some Kurdish villages allow you to see the traditional nomadic life of this culture.
The program included here is for the ascent of the mountain. This program can be extended with another day to visit areas near the mountains or the city of Istanbul, upon request.
