If you are one of those who like to combine sport with nature, the Cavalls de Vent is your journey. Located in the Cadí Moixeró Natural Park, this trekking offers us an incomparable natural setting to enjoy the views and spectacular paths throughout the journey. Well protected with its eight shelters, the journey has a total of 74 km and just over 11,000 meters of accumulated unevenness, this trekking is an adventure to discover the wildest corners of Berguedà and Cerdanya.

We begin our adventure with a wooded and simple approach route. The first destination is the famous Refugi del Gresolet, built next to the beloved Santuari de Gresolet (13th and 17th centuries).

We got up early to enjoy a demanding stage with spectacular panoramic views of the north face of Cadí. We will find the Prat d’Aguiló Shelter surrounded by greenery and in one of the most beautiful corners of the mountains.

We continue the journey with a route surrounded by Scots pine and fir trees. We will find viewpoints that will allow us to enjoy the views of the Ingla Valley and Cerdanya. The El Serrat de les Esposes Shelter is located at the foot of Moixeró and El Penyes Altes, at 1,511 m altitude.
Distance: 16 km.
Positive gradient: 780 m.
Negative gradient: 1,250 m.

We continue with one of the most demanding stages but full of memorable moments. Our destination is the highest refuge in the Spanish Pyrenees: Niu de l’Aliga (2,536 meters). We will cross the Coll de Jou, an old smugglers’ crossing. We will be accompanied by the typical fauna of the area, such as the black woodpecker, the Pyrenean owl or the crossbill.
Distance: 13 km.
Positive slope: 1,480 m.
Negative gradient: 520 m.

After a well-deserved rest, we resume our adventure touring Penyes Altes. The altitude allows us to enjoy iconic views of the region: to the north, Cerdanya and the Pyrenees. To the south, Berguedà. With luck, we can even see the famous Montserrat mountain range!

Negative gradient: 1,690 m.

And we arrive at the last day! Today we lower the physical demands and make the most of every moment of this tour. From the Sant Jordi Refuge, surrounded by alpine forest, we begin to descend to find denser and riverside vegetation. We return to the Coll de Bena Car Park, the starting point of the trip, and we say goodbye to this great mountain experience.
