Legend has it that long ago the beauty of the Pyrenees attracted the giants to these mountains. They were beings feared and despised by the Gods so they lived in hiding. One of the giants was called Netu. He had a reputation for being evil and lived with his flocks in the mountains. One day a very kind and hard-working beggar appeared in the Benasque Valley. After several days of walking, the beggar without water or food saw a flock in the distance and, dying of hunger, decided to approach. Suddenly the giant Netu appeared and denied the beggar all help. The beggar then said “your heart is hard like rock, I hope all of you turns into stone.”
And so it was, Netu watched as his body petrified. In a few seconds it was converted into the large rock that today is the summit of Aneto.
The Benasque valley stands out for its landscape and biological values as it is home to the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park and Aneto Peak. This tour will allow us to admire all the grandeur of these mountains, the highest in the Pyrenees. Between their granite spiers and glaciers we find the most spectacular panoramic views of the mountain range. On snowshoes we will tour its forests and high mountain meadows, under that precious white blanket during the winter.
In this adventure we will enjoy 5 days of activity, spending the night in aHotel in the beautiful municipality of Benasque, the nerve center of the Valley. There will be 5 different circuits that cover a selection of the best enclaves in the area.

Today we will tour one of the most characteristic valleys of Benasque, snowy and idyllic at this time of year: Estós.
We start the itinerary from Camping Aneto, located at the entrance to the Posts-Maladeta nature reserve. We take a comfortable climb through changing landscapes that show the natural wealth of the environment.
We will arrive at the Cabaña de Turmo, a refuge much loved by the local inhabitants, and immortalized in one of the most iconic songs of Spanish pop: 20 de Abril, by Celtas Cortos. We will continue the path passing through the foot of the mythical peaks Perdiguero (3,222 m), Perdigueret (2,804 m) and Estós (2,531 m) to the La Coma cabin. We continue the return through the Estós ravine and the track, downstream, that will take us to the starting point of the route.

We continue climbing, discovering beautiful images of the High Mountains until we reach Ibón de Gorguetes, a captivating lake of glacial origin with incredible views of the Las Maladetas Massif and Glacier. After enjoying the landscape, we return along the same path and white valleys that accompanied us on the way.

Today we will visit the Literola Valley, a wonderful environment that begins in the Ibón Blanco Circus under the Perdiguero (3221m) and the Cabrioules (3116m). In winter it can host high layers of snow that we will cross well equipped with our snowshoes.
We will begin our tour through a small snowy forest of majestic pines and fir trees. We will leave the forest and continue through a wide meadow now covered in white. Soon we will come across spectacular views of the Perdiguero, as we walk along the banks of the river to the shepherd’s hut of Literola. We will notice how the landscape narrows to today’s mythical destination: theIbonet of Literola. We rest in this postcard corner and return along the same path.
