Punta Dufour (Monte Rosa) is, together with Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, one of the peaks of the Alpine trilogy. A peak that great mountaineers must ascend at some point. Although by altitude, at 4,634 meters, it is below Mont Blanc, it is nestled in the great alpine massif that bears its name, undoubtedly the most majestic of all. It is also the highest peak in both Switzerland and Italy as it marks the border between the two countries. The ascent to the majestic Swiss summit is planned as part of a week of intense activity with the aim of facing an undertaking of this importance with sufficient guarantees of success.

Good physical condition is required for this ascent since it is long and with a significant gradient and extensive mastery of winter walking with crampons, ice axes and progression with a roped group.

Meeting in Zermatt. Technical meeting and review of material by the guide.
Early departure from Zermatt with the cable car to Klein Matterhorn and climb to the top of the Breithorn.

Early departure from Zermatt with the Gornengrat train to the Rotenboden intermediate station and climb to the Monte Rosa hut.
Elevation difference: +250m – 300m; Time: 2/3 hours; Distance: 4km
Departure very early from the refuge to the summit, directly to the long crest ridge, arrival at the top of Punta Dufour. Direct descent down the glacier to the Monte Rosa refuge to rest for a while. From there to the train station and back to Zermatt for dinner and rest.
