An inspirational journey that will leave you speechless. Langtang National Park is one of our favorite regions. Far from the busy trails, we enter an authentic landscape in the heart of the Himalayas and participate in the culture, tradition and local life in the most real and close way.
With about 1710 square kilometers, Langtang was declared a National Park in 1976. Located in the center of the Himalayas, it is about 30 kilometers from the city of Kathmandu. It contains the greatest variety of vegetation since it is found in both the subtropical and alpine zones. About 1000 plant species, 160 bird species and 30 mammal species have been recorded.
TheSacred Lake of Gosaikunda, at 4380m high, is extraordinarily special. It is home to Hindu pilgrimage and is surrounded by 9 other lakes to the east and west.
This area was greatly affected after the earthquake of April 25, 2015. There is history in every step, behind every look and behind every rock we leave behind. So many emotions will awaken your heart and open your spirit to a new perspective on life.
Adventure is on the way, and we can’t wait to show you what Langtang National Park has to offer. You will start at Syapru Besi, and soon we find ourselves enveloped by the deep, lush forests, where bamboo and Rhododendron trees (the national flower of Nepal) grow. We meet the Langur monkey and see the popular bee hives that are suspended in the surrounding rocks where expert hunters climb with ropes and handmade ladders to Collect the most delicious honey in Nepal. Our Tour «In Search of the Red Panda», unique and exclusive to this trek, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In addition to a cultural experience, we will be able to see the majestic Himalayan peaks of Langtang (Langtang Lirung 7227m, Langtang II, Urking Kangari, Baden Powell Scout Peak, Naya Kanga, Yala Peak…). And we will ascend to some of the peaks such as Kyanjin Ri (4773m) or Tserko Ri (4984m). We will explore the Langtang Lirung Glacier at the Langtang Lirung Peak Base Camp, or we will go to Langshisha Karka to discover the end of the valley surrounded by numerous snow-capped peaks.

We traveled by jeep for approximately 6 hours. We reached Syapru Besi in the afternoon and explored the area. Not without forgetting to visit the local Hot Springs.
For the first two hours we walked along a nice, easy trail. Afterwards, the terrain begins to steepen more. We walked through bamboo forests. The impact of the damage caused by the earthquake in 2015 is beginning to be clearly visible. In the town of Bamboo we can see a large landslide. We will find Langur monkeys, bee hives hanging from steep rocks, bamboo forests and beautiful trails that will take us along a narrow and prominent valley.
The terrain ascends along steep paths to the disappeared village of Langtang. Langtang village was destroyed by the earthquake on April 25, 2015, but many houses have been rebuilt today. We arrive at Mundu, the oldest town in the region. The road will leave us speechless, and the locals we meet along our way will fill us with moving stories full of learning and experience. Today we will have the opportunity to understand what happened during the 2015 earthquake, the means that the villagers and tourists who were in the area had, the actions that were taken by the rescue services and the Nepalese government. , and all kinds of information that will make us reflect and, perhaps most importantly, value the precious gift of the present, of the moment, of life. The landscape here begins to open up to the majestic mountains of the Langtang Himalayas, a setting that will take your breath away.
A shorter day’s walk to reach Kyanjin Gumba. Where we will enjoy the best views of the Himalayan mountains of Langtang National Park. The panorama is overwhelmingly beautiful. Here we will stay for 3 nights, since much of the adventure is concentrated around the beautiful town of Kyanjin Gompa.
We will enjoy climbing one of the peaks to see the magical view of the snow giants and the Langtang Lirung glacier above Kyanjin. On this day, we will be able to offer an optional expedition to Yala Peak in case the group has contracted this service. To ascend Yala Peak you must obtain a different permit in addition to having specific material for the journey. Therefore, if the group wants to climb Yala Peak, the service must be contracted at least 15 days before arrival in Nepal, and the price will be different.
During this day the options will depend on the energy of the group. We can enjoy a half-day adventure climbing to the Langtang Lirung Glacier Base Camp, or venture on a full-day expedition to Langshisa Karka. Both absolutely fantastic experiences. Our Tour Leader will help us decide the best option according to the moment.
Our descent will take us through the steep terrain we ascended previously. Today it will be a good idea to use trekking poles!
This journey will take us up through very steep terrain until we reach Thulo Syabru. We look out over the valley from the top of the hill from where the views are spectacular.
Today will be a day of exploration. The area offers us endless opportunities. Together with our local friends, we will discover the local fauna through “In Search of the Red Panda”. It is an endangered species, there are only about 1000 specimens left in the world. For lovers of rock climbing, or those who want to discover it, in this town they have opened some routes in the rocks of the region, donating the appropriate material to the locals of Thulo Syabru so that hikers passing through the town can enjoy of a day of climbing in one of the remote villages of the Nepal Himalayas. Without a doubt a unique opportunity.
Today we continue towards the town of Laurebina, where we will have the privilege of having a viewpoint of the western Himalayan mountain range. The views go as far as Annapurna and Dhaulagiri including Langtang Peak. Today’s journey surrounds us with Rhododendron forests, the national flower of Nepal.
Today offers us a softer and easier terrain that opens up to high mountain geography. Today we arrive at the Sacred Lakes of Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal. At an elevation of 4,380m and surrounded by higher terrain to the east and north, this “kunda”, or lake, is truly picturesque. Every year, during the festival called Janai Poornima in August, thousands of Hindu pilgrims and devotees make the pilgrimage to Gosaikunda to take a sacred purification bath that will bring them health, wealth and good luck. It is an exceptionally special place that very few tourists visit, and we take you to experience an exclusive experience. The magic of the lakes will leave you speechless.
We will explore the area and the lakes of Gosaikunda. Furthermore, if the group is lively and energetic, we will delight in an ascent to Surya Peak (5140m).
In Sian Gompa we will delight ourselves with the delicious local Yak cheese. We will love Sian Gompa, a town with a very special charm and hospitable and welcoming locals.
Return to Kathmandu. We will walk to Dunche and take a transport back to Kathmandu which will take us about 6 hours. We will settle into the hotel and reward ourselves with a well-deserved rest.
Last day to explore the city and its surroundings. A perfect day to visit Bhaktapur, or explore some of the world heritage sites in Kathmandu such as the Buddhist stupas Swayambunath, and Bouddhanath, the Pashupatinath temple (the Hindu crematorium), the royal Durbar Square, or Patan. Make time for a walk through the center of Thamel, to do your shopping and discover local crafts to take with you as a souvenir from a country that will surely have inspired you.
We hope it has been an unforgettable experience. We hope to see you again soon!
