Note: Mount Elbrus can be very cold if the wind is strong. Don’t be careless with your hand and foot equipment. Pay close attention to Boots and Mittens!
Departure on the flight departing at 11:30 p.m. or 12:50 a.m. Night on board. Arrival, pick up at the airport and transfer by bus (4 hours) to Baksan Valley. Hotel accommodation.
Depending on the weather and whether Cheget is open, we will acclimatize to one place or the other. We will walk to the summit of Cheget, 3,600 meters high, with a gradient of 1,100 meters in 4 hours. From this summit we will have the Elbrus summit before us for the first time. Plan “B” will be to go to the observatory area and the large waterfall. Return to the Hotel.
After breakfast we will take the chairlift to the upper station of Mir at 3,500m and from here on skis up to 4,200m, to the Prijut refuge. We will climb 700 meters of elevation in about 4 hours. We will return to the Intermitja station to spend the night in a comfortable cabin at Barrels Camp at 3,800 meters.
After breakfast, we will climb to the “Pastukhov rocks” at 4,800 meters. It will be about 1,000 meters in 5 hours, to return to spend the night at the refuge.
Rest day to finish acclimatizing. This day is very important because if the forecast is bad for the following days, we will take advantage of this day for the ascension. If the forecast is good, I rest fully this day to recover energy for the next few days.
Day of attack on the summit. We will have breakfast at 3 in the morning so we can leave at 4 in the morning at the latest. The time of ascent to the highest peak in Europe is approximately 6 to 10 hours and about 4 – 5 hours of descent, depending on the state of the snow, being able to reach the refuge between 12:00 and 14:00. It is advisable to take the “ratrac” to make the first part of the ascent (not included in the price). 1,100 meters up and 1,850 down!
Margin day or reserve in case of bad weather the day before. If the summit is successfully completed the day before, today we will be celebrating in the town of Asau.
Transfer day to the town of Pyatigorsk, the city of 5 hills. Here we will visit the market, and relax in
inside the city.
In the afternoon transfer to the airport to catch the early morning flight.
