Accommodation in the western area
Breakfast, dinner included
The Snaefellsnes Peninsula, or as the Icelanders call it, “little Iceland”, since it concentrates many of the most representative landscapes of the island .
This peninsula is very famous for the presence of Snaefellsjökull, a volcano through which Jules Verne accessed the center of the Earth in his famous novel.
We will see seals, caves, white sand beaches and cliffs with basaltic formations, waterfalls in one of the most beautiful environments on the island.
We will stop to see the fabulous rock formations of Arnarstapi, where we will take a walk along the cliffs and we can observe the paradise of water birds.
We will also visit Djúpalónssandur, a beach with a very curious story about sailors who lived in this area. We continue the trip until we find the Saxhóll crater, one of the obligatory stops if you tour the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The aerial images are incredible and when you have it in front of you it does not disappoint. You have to prepare yourself to climb the 396 steps of the ladder, Led Zeppelin comes to mind when you look at the ladder from below.
We will surround the Snaefellsjökull volcano and pass by < b>Kirkjufell, which has become the most photographed mountain in the country. Nearby we discover the waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss</ b>.
The day we will end by climbing Drápuhlíðarfjall (527 m). It is a mountain of strange beauty. It contains basalt and rhyolite, lignite between layers of basalt and fossilized tree trunks. In addition to sulfur stones, jasper… For a long time it was believed that there was gold in the mountain, but only very small quantities were found

But it has really started to become popular recently, thanks to its natural treasures and small typical Icelandic towns, in addition to the many places it has for hiking, and its exuberant beauty. The connection through two long tunnels has made it possible to connect the small towns of Ólafsfjörđur with Siglufjörđur and give mountaineers access to a valley that until then was remote, we are referring to the valley of the Héđinsfjörđur fjord. From this beautiful fjord we will make a direct climb, comfortable for a good part of the route, although at the end the slope is somewhat steeper. Once at the top we will have a problem, we will see so many mountains that it will force us to return in the future.
At the end of the peninsula, you will reach the city of Akureyri , known as the Capital of the North. Mount Ytri-Súla is another option the next day (route from Akureyri)
