Another of the high-altitude jewels of the Sierra Nevada National Park. The Mulhacén is not only one of the 10 highest mountains in Spain, but it is the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula and the second in Spain. The word Mulhacén comes from Mulay Hasan, penultimate Nasrid king of Granada in the 15th century, who is said to have been buried on this mountain.
The ascent along its south face is relatively gentle, without technical difficulty, while the north side, with shorter access, is steeper with steps that require knowledge of climbing.A natural beauty turned into a challenge for mountaineers of different levels.
