In the Dolomites, the three peaks of Lavaredo rise defiantly, showing us the immensity of their northern faces, three vertical walls close to seven hundred meters high, which overwhelm the hiker. They are part of the history of mountaineering and the best climbers and mountaineers of all generations have passed through their walls. The geological formations of vertical limestone rock walls found in the Dolomites are unique in the world, in fact the morphology of their rock is only found in this massif named after the French geologist who discovered and cataloged it. Its landscapes made up of walls and narrow, deep valleys have earned it being declared a natural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. These particular mountains, described by Reinhold Messner as “the most beautiful mountains in the world”, also have notable historical interest as they were the scene of some of the fiercest combats that occurred during the First World War.
