If you want to discover a new destination in Trekking or High Mountain mode, Kyrgyzstan is your country. As a reference, we will tell you that Bloomberg and CNN Travel agencies included Kyrgyzstan in the list of the most recommended new countries to visit and that Lonely Planet included it in the “Top 10 countries” recommended to discover. This former republic of the former USSR still maintains its nomadic, wild character and is far from Western tourism. As our Guide says, it would be like visiting Nepal in the 80s.
Some of the places that you will discover in this wonderful Trekking:
● Lake Kelsuu at 3500 m asl (the mysterious lake that disappears during the year and appears only in the summer months located in the very remote place near the border with China)
● Son Kul Lake at 3016 m asl (the nomads’ paradise to spend a bucolic life enjoying tranquility, peace and the landscape of immense pastures. Sleep in a yurt at 3016 in comfort with beds. Trek to the authentic petroglyphs and live life without internet)
● Issyk Kul Lake at 1609 m asl the second alpine lake after Titicaca with the size 170km by 60 km with its salt water. This lake never freezes during the year. Locals bathe here during the summer. The water temperature is about 18 degrees above 0.
● Skazka Canyon with its petrified clay rocks
● Yety Oguz Gorge (7 bulls) with its 7 famous rocks and the Corazón Partido rock as the song by Alejandro Sans
● Barskoon Gorge and its incredible waterfalls with a Yurii Gagarin monument at the entrance.
● The Arabel plate with its glaciers and small lakes.
● The Ala Archa National Natural Park with its coniferous forests and its mountains of the Tian Shan mountain range (heavenly mountains)
● The minaret of the great Silk Road of the 11th century – the Buraná tower

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 0

Departure Spain-Bishek

Day 1

Istanbul ✈ Bishkek city. Chon Kemin Valley

Arrival in Bishkek at 09:10 am. (Early check in is not included).
Meeting with the guide and transfer to the Buraná Tower near the city of Tokmok (approximately 1.5 hours away), without passing through the hotel in Bishkek. The Buraná tower is one of the oldest minarets in Central Asia. Observation of a collection of balbales, or ancient stone figures.
Lunch at a local family’s house.
Then, departure to the Chon Kemin Valley. Accommodation from 2:00 p.m. and rest.
Walks around the town and visit of the site with a panoramic view (up to 2 km on one side). (1.5 hour one way +200 m)
Approximately. 3 hours of Trekking
Dinner and overnight at the Guest House at 1500m asl.

Day 2

Chon Kemin Valley – Grigorievskoe Gorge (Chon Ak Suu) – Semenovskoe Gorge – Karakol

After breakfast, departure to the Grigorievskoe Gorge (Chon Ak-Suu 1600 m asl). It is about a 3-hour drive by car.
For trekking there are 2 options depending on the weather:
1)A walk along the river, up to 2 km in total. +150 -150 m
2) Trekking to the first lake – about 10 km/4 hours
Elevation difference +150 -150 m.
We continue our way along the northern shore of Lake Issyk Kul to the city of Karakol (about 3 hours of travel). On the way we will make a stop near the Scythian burial mounds. Arrival in Karakol, accommodation in a hotel at 1700m asl. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Approximately 4 hours of trekking

Day 3

Karakol – Yety Oguz Gorge – Barskoon Gorge

Breakfast at hotel.
Then a short tour of the city. We will visit a Dungana mosque, a unique Chinese-style construction, but which serves the purposes of Muslim worship. We will also see an old Russian Orthodox Church – “The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity” made of wood without a single nail.
Transfer to the Yety Oguz Gorge (40-minute trip).
Yety Oguz translates from Kyrgyz as “Seven Bulls.” This picturesque canyon owes its name perhaps to the resemblance of rock formations covered in Tien Shan fir trees.
Possibility of taking several routes:
– climb to the viewpoint about 2 km (1 hour)
elevation difference: +50m-50
– walk to the waterfall about 6-7 km (about 2-3 hours)
Elevation: +250m -250m (depending on where we start from)
If it rains, you cannot go to the waterfall because the path is full of mud and dangerous. In this case we could do the walk along the river with almost no slope along the track (you can do up to 8-9 km in total).
Then the transfer to the Barskoon Gorge (translates as the tears of the snow leopard)
Accommodation and dinner in the tented camp at about 2700m asl.

Day 4

Barskoon Gorge – Ara Bel plate – Skazka Canyon – Kochkor village

After breakfast trekking to the waterfalls of the gorge.
Trekking: 5 km (3-4 hours)
Elevation: +400m -400m
Lunch in camp. Then transfer by car to the Ara Bel plate to see the lakes at 3800 m asl.
Departure to Skazka Canyon (The Fantastic Story) for short walks.
It can be up to 2-3 km (1 hour) in total, +150 m -150 m
The canyon consists of petrified clay of multiple colors that offers a very interesting view with the lake in the background.
In the afternoon transfer to the village of Kochkor along the southern shore of Lake Issyk Kul (about 4 hours). Accommodation and dinner in a hotel or in the home of a local family at 1800 m asl.
Approximately. Trekking 4 hours

Day 5

Kochkor – Ak Sai Valley

In the morning after breakfast transfer to the Ak Sai valley (7-8 hours of the trip). This lake is located in the coldest and most mountainous area of the country. The road to the town Ak Muz is quite good, then you will have to go through remote areas and along the tracks. The yurt camp is located near the border with China. To get there you need to pass 2 border controls and prove your border permit (it takes 2 weeks to do so). Arrival at the camp in the evening.
Accommodation and dinner in a yurt camp at 3200 m asl. In this remote area there is no coverage or internet.

Day 6

Ak Sai Valley – Kel Suu Lake – Naryn City

After breakfast we begin the trekking to Lake Kel Suu, one of the most beautiful lakes in Kyrgyzstan.
Trekking: 14 km/6h
Elevation: +300m-300m
It is a mysterious lake that disappears and appears only in the summer months. Its name translates as the incoming water. Upon arriving at the lake, lunch with lunch boxes. Optional: (highly recommended) boat ride on the lake
Note: It is a surprise lake, so the color can range from brown to light blue depending on the weather.
Return to the camp and departure to the city of Naryn at 2000m asl. Accommodation and rest.
Approximately. Trekking 5-6 hours

Day 7

Naryn – Son Kul lake via Moldo Ashuu port

In the morning after breakfast, departure to Lake Son Kul, a lost lake that is available from June to mid-September. The road passes through the Moldo Ashh pass (3445m asl).
This day we delve into nomadic life on Lake Son Kul, where the Kyrgyz still set up their traditional houses or yurts. The yurt is a practical and useful home that consists of a wooden shell covered by several layers of felt. We will have the opportunity to meet some Kyrgyz families. Upon arrival, lunch at the camp.
Trekking: can be up to 8 km
Elevation: +150m;-150m
Night and dinner in the yurt camp at 3016 m asl.
Optional: you can take a horse ride.
Optional: yurt assembly demonstration in Son Kul.
Approximately. Trekking 3 hours

Day 8

Son Kul – Bishkek

After breakfast transfer to the city of Bishkek through the Boom Canyon .
Optional: Demonstration of falconry on one of the hills, near the town of Balykchi.
Arrival in Bishkek in the afternoon. Visit to Victory Square dedicated to World War II and central mosque.
Hiking along the lake shore (1 km) and rest visit of the city.
Accommodation in a 3* hotel. Leisure. Dinner at local cafe.

Day 9

Bishkek – Ala Archa Park –Bishkek

After breakfast, departure to Ala Archa Park , which is located about 40 km from the city (45 minutes one way) for some walks.
Routes that can be done in the park:
-Walk to the “Corazón Partido” rock – 1.5 km/1h one way – 2377 m asl (elevation difference + 177 m asl)
-Walk to the Tepshi plate – 1.8 km/1h20 m asl one way – 2458 m (elevation difference + 258 m asl)
-Walk to the waterfall – 4 km/2h20m one way – 2665 m asl (elevation difference + 465 m asl)
-Walk along the river in the main gorge of Ala Archá – 1 km one way (no slope)
Return to the city.
Tour the main square Ala Too to see the legacy of the Soviet Union, including the Manas Monument, the national flag and the ceremony of changing the guard of honor, the monument of the 2010 Revolution, the White House, the Lenin statue, the old Ala Too square, the Oak Park and the open-air museum, and the Kurmandján Datká monument.
You can visit the Osh market (closed on Mondays) or the ZUM department store to buy souvenirs.
Farewell dinner at a local cafe.
Optional: folklore show at the local restaurant.
Trekking approximately 4 to 8 km. depending on the route chosen.

Day 10

Bishkek ✈ airport

In the morning, transfer to “Manas” international airport to take your return flight.

● Hotels may change due to availability, but the category will remain the same if other accommodation is provided.
● Some trekking days are subject to change for safety or weather reasons.
● Transfer time is approximate and depends on road conditions and weather.
● The maximum height can reach 4,000 meters.
● There will be no internet access in the yurts
Please, before leaving your country, make sure that your passports are in perfect condition. Customs services may deny entry to visitors who present passports in poor condition or with loose or poorly glued pages.
**This program is based on the TK 344 Istanbul-Bishkek flight with arrival at 9 am in Bishkek. If you choose another flight, you will have to pay the early check-in supplement. **
