THE ITINERARY OF THE GREAT WAR: LE CINQUE TORRI AND IL MONTE NUVOLAU
Travel by car: 30′ from Selva di Cadore to the Ponte Ru Curto car park.
Spectacular route through the Dolomites of Cortina d’Ampezzo and very interesting on a historical level for being one of the most emblematic places of the
Ampezana Dolomites of the First World War. From the Ponte de Ru Curto parking lot we will begin our snowshoe walk crossing a beautiful larch forest. We will arrive at the Rifugio Cinque Torri where a wonderful panorama will leave us “speechless”: the Cinque Torri complex. They are enormous granite blocks that stand out imposingly in front of us. We will climb to Forcella Averau where the Averau shelter is located and at the foot of the mountain that has the same name. We are already in the middle of one of the most important battlefields of the First World War (1915-1918). From here we will climb towards Mount Nuvolau. We will reach the top where there is the Nuvolau Refuge and from which we will have beautiful views from 2500m high. We will return along the same itinerary to the Rifugio Scoiattoli and from here we will enter the Cinque Torri, stepping on virgin snow and walking between these large imposing blocks.
From here we will return to the car passing through the Rifugio Cinque Torri.

THE IMPOSING CRODA DA LAGO MASSIF.
Travel by car: 32′ from Selva di Cadore to the parking lot near Baita Pezié de Parú (Pocol).
Attractive and challenging route through the Croda da Lago Massif, passing through Lake Federa, Malga Federa and Lake d’Ajal. Our itinerary begins by crossing a forest until we reach Casón di Formin (2376m). We will pass at its feet to reach the wonderful Federa Lake where we can stop at the Rifugio Croda da Lago. We will continue our route to Malga Federa, where we can discover the typical environment where cattle graze in the summer. From here we will go down through the Gores de Federa, that is, the gorges of the Federa River, through the Casón del Macarón to Lago d’Ajal, a jewel in the middle of these spectacular valleys. We will pass through the Refugio d’Ajal and return in the middle of the forest to our starting point.

MOUNT PELMO AND PELMETTO: ASCENT TO COL DE LA PUINA (2254m).
Travel by car: 9′ from Selva di Cadore to the Rifugio Cittá di Fiume parking lot.
An optimal compromise that allows you to enjoy a splendid panorama of the most famous dolomite peaks. Monte Pelmo, the Marmolada, the Croda da Lago, the Lastoi del Formin. Our first objective today will be to reach Malga Fiorentina, a farm that is no longer active but that gives us a glimpse of the intense livestock activity that took place in this area. In a short time we will arrive at the Rifugio Cittá di Fiume. From here we will begin our ascent to the Col della Puina (2254m), an impressive white pyramid that we will find after crossing the Forcella Forada and which is located to the Northwest of Monte Pelmo.
We will be able to admire Monte Pelmo and Monte Pelmetto and the immense crack that separates the two. Awesome! We will continue and in front of us we will have
our objective: the summit of Col della Puina. It is a spectacular viewpoint towards one of the most important mountains of the Cortina d’Ampezzo dolomites, the Pelmo Massif.
