For many touring skiers, there is nothing comparable to crossing the massifs and mountains of the Alps for a week. On this occasion at Manaslu Adventures we present the Silvretta, a complete program of 5 days of mountain skiing and authentic adventure in the Austrian alps. The Silvretta is such a Suitable for skiers who want to start high-country skiing as well as for those who regularly go out to practice and want to enjoy high-altitude skiing. Without technical complications, and with great descents in legendary Austrian mountains such as the Piz Buin (3,312 m) or the Grenzeck Kopf (3,045 m), the Silvretta adapts to all levels and offers us exceptional refuges throughout the journey.
The Austrian Silvretta massif is located between the Austrian Länder of Tyrol and Voralberg. This part of the Alps stands out for the great beauty of its landscapes due to its spectacular valleys and glaciers and it is here where mountain skiing acquires its greatest beauty.

Difficulty level

Initiation level. The Silvretta crossing is, after the Chamonix – Zermatt, the best known of the ski crossings of the Alps. The journey in the heart of the Austrian Alps has spectacular beauty, has moderate slopes, and comfortable shelters along it. Less difficult than the Chamonix – Zermatt Traverse, it nevertheless requires adequate skiing technique or having done mountain skiing before, although it is not necessary to have extensive experience. Highlight the quality of the snow in the Austrian Alps and the notorious moderation of its stages, which make it an ideal trip for all those skiers who have little experience in the modality. An excellent opportunity to get started on great mountain skiing trips.

Equipment

➢ Ski Equipment: skis, boots, skins, blades and poles (in good condition)
➢ Ice axe, Crampons, Harness. (included in the price)
➢ DVS 3 antennas, blade and probe. (Included in the price)
➢ 1 ice screw, 3 safety carabiners, 1 120 cm flat webbing ring, 1 anchor rope.
➢ Backpack prepared to carry skis and ice ax (about 40 liters),
➢ Gore-Tex type pants and jacket / waterproof and breathable membrane
➢ Thermal underwear, tights and t-shirt
➢ Thin fleece lining
➢ Light or thick jacket (depending on the temperatures at the time) made of feathers or
similar fiber.
➢ Sun and blizzard glasses.
➢ Hat
➢ Gloves 2 pairs, 1 thin and the other thick. If you are very cold, bring mittens.
➢ Front and spare batteries.
➢ Bag sheet for shelters.
➢ Small first aid kit with personal medication
➢ Attack food (you can order a picnic in the shelters)

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 1

Reception and accommodation

Reception of participants, review of material and briefing of the program.

Day 2

Ischfl Piz bal Gronda (Elevation 2,864m) – Heidelberger hutte (2,264m) – Khonenjoch
(2,980m) Jamtal Hutte (2,165m).

We start from one of the most important alpine ski centers in the Austrian Alps, the Ischfl ski resort. Descent to the Heildelberger refuge and gentle climb to jump into the valley where We enter the heart of the journey.
Positive gradient: 716m.
Negative slope 1,060m
Approximate time: 5-7 hours

Day 3

Jamtal Hutte Refuge – Ascent: Hinter Jam Spitze (3,156m) – Jamtal Hutte. the Jamtal Hutte (2,165m).

As acclimatization and as a different day we will do the ascent with skis up
almost the vicinity of the summit of the 3,156m Hinter Jam Spitze. Easy and affordable mountain with an impressive panoramic view of the area. Great ski descent and overnight stay in the Jamtalhutte refuge.
Positive gradient: 991m.
Negative gradient 991m
Approximate time: 6-7 hours

Day 4

Jamtal Hutte (2,165m) – Obere Ochseuscharte 2,970m -Wiesbadener Hutte (2,443m). and/or Dreilander Spitze (3,197m).

We change slopes and jump into the valley that The King of the area, the Piz Buin, presides. Dodging some large crevice in the glacier and gradually and smoothly we will reach the alpine pass of Obere Ochseuscharte and ski to the door of the refuge.

Negative slope: 805m
Approximate time: 4-6 hours

Day 5

Wiesbadener Hutte (2,443m) – Fourcla dal Cunfin (3,043m)- Chamona Tuoi Refuge (2,250m)

Today we will get up very early to undertake one of the most technical stages of the crossing as we will have to go up to the set of the Piz Buin Glacier through some steep snow slopes, overcoming the famous Fourcla dal Cunfin pass. We are in Switzerland and through very wild and spectacular terrain we will only have to ski down to the genuine Chamonna Tuoi refuge, usually buried by snow up to its very windows.
Positive slope: 600m
Negative slope: 800m
Approximate time: 5-7 hours

Day 6

Chamona Tuoi Hut (2,250m) – Vermutjock (2,800m) – Weisbadenerhutte (2,443m) – Bieltalkopfjock (2,728m) – Wirl (1,624m)

Last stage of the journey. We put the seal skins on our skis to ascend the steep slope that we will have to overcome at the beginning (sometimes with blades or crampons) to reach the Vermutjock pass. Now on soft terrain we will ski again to the Weisbadenerhutte refuge and a short climb with skins to jump into the adjacent Bieltalbach valley where we only
We will have to drop to the last point of the journey where a regular bus will pick us up and take us to the Hotel where a good shower and a succulent well-deserved dinner await us.
Positive gradient: 850m
Negative slope: 1,500m
Approximate time: 6-8 hours

Day 7

Return flight. End of program

The registration period ends on February 15, 2016. To formalize registration for the program and secure your place, a bank transfer for an amount of €920 must be made. The rest of the amount must be paid 15 days before departure.
